Cruiser Burnham Week Report

»«Sunday 6th September 2015

David Hill in Spangle, his Contessa 32 raced in Class 6, one of the Locally Handicapped Cruiser Fleet, and observed Club boats in many fleets...

In total Class 5 had fourteen entries and Class 6 had ten entries during the week. However, following the trend in recent years, mid-week numbers dropped and there were seven entries in the class. Club boats made a good showing in both fleets.  In Class 5 Paul Drew's Harvest Moon won on Sunday and came third in the Bank Holiday Weekend series. Paul also won the Penrose Fitzgerald Cup for the Final Saturday.

Andy Prestwich's Otra Vez entered Class 1 at the weekends and Class 6 for the mid-week series and came second on Thursday and third in the series. Spangle ventured forth for three races. Came second each time, twice at the Bank Holiday Weekend collecting the Marlow Ropes Trophy and second again on the Final Saturday.

Len Cole's Amanda Louise II had a successful week and took a wheelbarrow to the prize-giving! Three firsts won the BYH White Sails at the first weekend, and the Tiger Cup for the Bank Holiday Monday. Len was first on Wednesday and, as Runner Up in the mid-week series, won the Pat Grey Shield. On the Final Saturday another first won the Roach Trophy.  Then, as best in Classes 5 and 6, he won the Nelly Deane Cup.

'Well done!' to all competitors and 'Thank you' to all those whose efforts made it all possible.
