Thirteen boats set off for Fambridge on Sunday with seven of them on the start line in Creeksea Reach, set by Committee Boat Piglet. The smallest entrant was junk rigged 24 footer Mingming II continuing her sea trials. One boat was over the line and two of the larger cruisers managed to find the mud on the way to Fambridge but the tide was coming in so no harm done.
The other cruisers came along for the fun and we all crowded into the Ferry Boat Inn for lunch and a new type of quiz in the form of a ten-minute crossword – Wendy Eagling was in charge: 'I've set my timer'! That was won by Quick Reflex and Sue King received the Spangle Cup. The result for the winner of the Eagling Trophy is looking very close and members will find out who it is at the Cruiser Prize Giving Dinner on 19th October, by which time the committee will have set a handicap for new class members and calculated the overall result.
