The weekend of 9th & 10th March saw 47 Cadets descending on the club for the 4th Weekend of their Winter training programme. It was great to see the club full to bursting on an early March weekend.
The four Cadet squads - The National Squad, The National Junior Squad, The Intermediate Development Squad and The Junior Development Squad enjoyed some challenging conditions with strong tides & light winds proving difficult for some and an education for all.
On Saturday night Rachael Williams had organised a Cadet Supper which proved very popular with 120 people sitting down to curry or shepherd’s pie with syrup sponge or apple crumble and custard which was very welcome after a cold day on the water. The raffle (also organised by Rachael) raised in excess of £220.00 for the Association! Thanks go to all who donated a prize.
Sunday dawned a little colder and with a little more wind and after a tough morning session on the water, the weekend culminated with a series of three short races in the afternoon. Due to the river being empty of moored boats, the race course could be set up in view of the club house, meaning that parents could watch from a warm club house, which on such a cold day was very welcome.
All in all a very successful weekend for both the Club & the Association.
