RCYC Celebrates Burns' Night

»«Monday 28th January 2013

The recent snow is Scotland didn't stop the annual Haggis hunt and the club secured a wee beastie to be ceremonially slaughtered. Steve 'Mac'Jones provided the expertise and theatre to delight the blood thirsty crowd of tartan wearing members. The pipes played, the whisky flowed and the dust was shaken off our dancing shoes as Mel Titmus did her best to teach the drunken rabble the finer steps of Scottish dancing.

The traditions were well served with entertaining recitals of Marion Aspinal's response from the Lassies and Robert Coyle's Immortal Memory, reflecting respectfully on the life of Robert Burns. However, Arthur Heasley stole the show as he charmed all the ladies with his poetic words before a fatal strategy of wooing the wrong Ann left the audience in no doubt that "A man's a man for a' that".
