Four members of the Corinthian Otters, Nick Sutton, Josh Bennett, Sam and Ben Barr, who sail in International Cadet dinghies, have been competing throughout the year in a series comprising 22 races at three different venues in an effort to be selected for the Team to represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Hobart Australia later in the year.
The National Championships in Torquay was the final event of the selector series and both crews have qualified and been selected to represent their country. Nick & Josh sailed a fantastic event in Torquay to be crowned National Champions and secure their place whilst Sam & Ben’s four top ten finishes and consistency throughout the summer saw them selected also.
Cadet Class Association chairman Andy Shorrock congratulated the boys on their excellent sailing this year and was delighted to offer them a place in the team.
The two Burnham crews are selected as part of a ten boat team that will travel to Hobart in Tasmania at Christmas to compete in the World Championships along with teams from Argentina, Russia, Belgium, Holland, Poland and Germany amongst others.
