On Saturday the 27th of March the Otters held the annual Easter Egg Regatta. With the sun shining and a breeze of about 8 knots it looked as though the conditions were perfect.
However, as the fleet launched it was clear that the spring tide was going to make things difficult for the competitors. Fortunately the wind picked up and two successful and closely battled races were completed.
After lunch there was a hint of excitement as the wind picked up, a sight that every Otter is always keen to see. This excitement was short lived as the wind died, the heavens opened and in true Otter spirit the calls for “abandon” came thick and fast.
At the Prize Giving Jake Braybrook won the Topper fleet, the Handicap was won by Ben Harden, the Optimist fleet won by Tom Johnson and the Cadet fleet won by Katie Barr and Scarlett Anderson. Scott Ellis gave an inspirational speech after winning the prize for youngest Cadet crew.
