Hannah and Katrina have been sailing together for eight months since leaving the 420s and it hasn't been easy combining training with acadaemic studies, supported by their sponsor Pindar.
The conditions on the last day of the Championships were particularly challenging, sailing as they were in winds gusting 25-30 knots. But they showed their determination by leading the fleet to the windward mark although, as Hannah explained, "Then it got really breezy so some boys got us!"
But a finish in 9th place that day was enough to confirm their win over all. They stood on the winner's rostrum to receive gold medals, 31 points clear of the Dutch pair sailing on their home waters, and 53 points ahead of the Belarusian Team.
The season isn't over yet; they compete in the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta to be held in Weymouth from the 19th to the 23rd of September. Good Luck!
